Questions

Mental health treatment FAQ

How do I know if I need therapy?

If something is getting in the way of your daily life — work, sleep, relationships, how you feel day to day — it’s worth a conversation. You don’t need to be in crisis, and you don’t need a diagnosis first.

What happens in the first session?

An assessment: a clinician asks about what’s going on, what you’ve tried, and what you want to change. Together you’ll shape a plan. It’s a conversation, not a test.

How long does treatment last?

It depends on your goals and progress. Some people come for a few months; others longer. You and your clinician will review regularly and adjust together.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. State and federal privacy laws protect your treatment information. We’ll explain the few legal exceptions up front, in plain language.

Can my family be involved?

With your written permission, yes. Many people find it helps to have someone they trust in the loop.
